Previous Performers
Include:
Melissa McClelland
Toronto's Melissa McClelland is an expressive
singer, a gorgeously gritty lyricist, and a vivid
painter of pop noire. Translation: expect resemblances
to the styles of Feist, Jolie Holland and Sarah
Harmer.
Shaun Verreault
As the guitarist and primary vocalist of Wide
Mouth Mason, Shaun's skills as a songwriter and
lyricist have contributed to the band's success
over the years. If you are a fan of gifted guitar
playing or Wide Mouth Mason, this show is not
to be missed.
Fred Penner
Attention Moms and Dads! If you've never heard
about Fred Penner, run, ride your bike, do cartwheels,
just get to the village stage to experience Fred's
dynamic live show that's sure to enchant the little
ones and delight the older ones too.
Jeremy Fisher
Definitely a star on the rise, Fisher is making
a name for himself for his smart lyrics, wailing
harmonica and crisp guitar. If you enjoy the art
of songwriting and like to listen to a little
Bob Dylan every once in a while, make sure you
catch his show.
Velvet
Velvet is an experimental music collective and
pioneers of Canadian live organic house music.
Specializing in freestyle improvisation, the soulful
leader Kuba Oms makes sure the music is unique
and always rocking the dance floor, or in this
case, rocking the Village Stroll.
Norman Foote
Norman does a mean rendition of Twinkle Twinkle
Little Star and if you're under 10, cute and know
the words, you may find yourself onstage singing
along. Kids will love this award-winning family
performer from Vancouver, while grownups will
appreciate his quick wit and double-edged humour.
Shona Le Mottée
At last year's performance on the Village Stage,
Shona had everyone's toes tapping - from skateboarders
to grandparents. Her fiery, fast-paced fiddling
is a definite crowd-pleaser and we are thrilled
to have her back.
Matt Dusk
With impeccable taste to match his formidable
talent, Toronto-born Dusk knows the importance
of style and sophistication in everything he does.
Firmly established in the pack of young crooners
like Michael Bublé, 27-year-old Dusk and
his talented six-piece band already have a sensational
major label debut under their belts with 2004's
Two Shots.
Lillix
This all-girl Canadian pop/rock band hailing from
the small BC town of Cranbrook are on their way
to stardom. Weeks away from the release of their
second CD on Madonna's record label Maverick,
Lillix is poised to explode internationally. Every
festival needs rock and roll, and this is it!
The Paperboys
The Paperboys slide effortlessly from Americana
country to Latin groove to Stax-influenced soul
tunes or a raging Celtic stomp. You could call
it Latino Celtic grass or Country Soul. Most describe
it as acoustic-based roots music.
