Whistler First Night
is an alcohol-free evening of entertainment
and activity for people of all ages on December
31. Taking place in Whistler Village, the annual
First Night program features an inspiring program
of great live music, art workshops and street
entertainment, with some brand new elements, and
some favorites.
Free transit will again be offered,
courtesy of the municipality, from 6 p.m. to 4
a.m.
New elements, for example, include
moving some components indoors to the TELUS Conference
Centre, to provide a warm and fun environment
for all. The Grand Foyer becomes the Creative
Zone, featuring arts and crafts, caricature artist,
pantomime, juggler, and clowns. Internationally
renowned and celebrated all ages performer Norman
Foote with Characters, Slim 'n Angel and Sasquatch,
performed by Skitz to the Hitz! Norman Foote will
bring in the New Year for the Young People.
Ballroom C becomes the Youth
Zone, a New Years Eve club experience for young
men and women under 19 years, with dancing, video
games, and door prizes, and a countdown at midnight.
What the Youth Zone doesn't have is parents! Refreshments
will be available in the lounge by the games.
On the main stage in village
square, we've got Black Swade, the hot new boys
band from Squamish, Norman Foote, Zaki Ibrahim
and DJ Grand Theft.
Free transit will again be offered,
courtesy of the municipality, from 6 p.m. to 4
a.m.
The full schedule is available
for pick up throughout Whistler. Tickets are on
sale now at the Whistler Activity Centre (adjacent
to the conference centre) and Whistler Information
Centre (the round building at the village entrance).
Prices are still only $15 for adults and $5 for
children.
As usual, you will need a ticket
to gain entry to the village. And a friendly reminder
that this is a zero-tolerance, non-alcoholic event.
Zero-tolerance means that guests who attempt to
enter First Night with alcohol will have their
liquor confiscated and may be subject to arrest.
